Large Animal Veterinary Intern

The Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic offers a 1-year equine and farm animal internship to help the right candidate launch a successful veterinary career. Our clinic has 7 large animal veterinarians and experienced support staff to provide outstanding mentorship, a supportive environment, and a competitive salary with full benefits. Our practice believes in family, setting boundaries, and work-life balance. To qualify for the internship, the candidate must have or be able to obtain a Wisconsin and Illinois veterinary license as well as a valid driver’s license.

Our large animal internship provides structured mentorship in all aspects of equine ambulatory practice including preventive care, dentistry, lameness, internal medicine, reproduction, and 24-hour emergency ambulatory care. Additional mentorship will include commercial and pet farm animal ambulatory medicine represented by bovine (principally dairy), small ruminants, camelids, potbellied pigs, as well as some exotics. Currently, the caseload is approximately 75% equine, 20% farm animal, and under 5% exotic and pot-bellied pig.

Small Animal CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician)

Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic is seeking a dedicated and skilled Small Animal CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician) to join our team. We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about providing high-quality care to our small animal patients. Responsibilities:

Assist veterinarians during surgeries and procedures

Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs

Perform animal restraint with care and compassion

Conduct venipuncture and collect samples for laboratory testing

Proficiently operate laboratory equipment and interpret results

Utilize radiology and dental radiology equipment effectively

Perform dental scaling procedures with precision

Educate clients on various aspects of animal care and wellness

Provide exceptional customer service and address client inquiries and concerns

Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient care

Requirements:

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) qualification

Proven experience in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance

Proficient in animal restraint techniques

Skilled in venipuncture and sample collection

Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment

Familiarity with radiology and dental radiology techniques

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced and chaotic environment

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
