New Strain of Calici
Recently, a new strain of Calicivirus has developed. Calicivirus is one of the main components of feline upper respiratory infections. The previous vaccinations have not included protection against the new deadly strain, hemorrhagic Calicivirus.
This virus is spread in nasal, ocular, oral secretions as well as in stools. It can be transmitted into households on shoes, hands, clothing, etc.
The Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic has NOT seen any cats which have been suspected to have the new hemorrhagic Calicivirus, however we are interested in preventing such cases.
Please call to make an appointment for a vaccination.
