Dr. Richard C. Tully has been practicing veterinary medicine for 29 years after receiving his doctor of veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University in 1978. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the AVMA, AAEP, WVMA, a long-time member and past president of the WEPA, and was for six years a member of the Board of Visitors at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Tully’s article, Severe Hypoglycemia Attributable to Surreptitious Injection of Insulin in a Mare, was published in the July 15, 1988 Journal of the AVMA. His principle areas of interest include medicine, reproduction, and lameness. In addition to his professional activities, Dr. Tully is on the Board of Directors for S.M.I.L.E.S., a local non-profit therapeutic riding center for children and adults with disabilities. Married to Gayle for 27 years, he has two daughters, Julie and Katie. Dr. Tully enjoys outdoor sports, especially golf.


Dr. Robert Entwistle, one of the partners in the practice, graduated from the University of Illinois in 1981 and joined the Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic at that time. Dr. Entwistle’s areas of interest include production animal veterinary care, internal medicine, and surgery. Dr. Entwistle lives in the Elkhorn area with his wife, four daughters, and son. He can often be found on the sidelines of one of his children’s sporting events.


Dr. Philip Burns graduated from Colorado State University in 1986 and completed an internship at Illinois Equine Hospital in 1987. Dr. Burns joined the Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic in 1987 and is one of the clinic’s four partners. His special interest include equine reproduction, lameness and dentistry which he also practices abroad seasonally in an equine specialty practice in New Zealand. Dr. Burns and his wife and two daughters reside in Eagle, WI on a small hobby farm.


Dr. Tracy Busalacchi graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 and has been practicing in Southeast Wisconsin since. Dr. Busalacchi (Dr. Tracy to her clients) joined the staff of Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic in 2000. Her membership in professional organizations includes AVMA, WVMA, AAEP, MVMA, AERC. She is deeply involved with horses, especially endurance riding, and has membership in the AQHA, APHA, and AHA. Dr. Tracy’s specific areas of interest include reproduction, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and sports medicine. Originally from East Troy, Wisconsin, Dr. Tracy continues to live in the area with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and four horses. Dr. Tracy gives back to the community at large by speaking to 4-H and riding clubs throughout the area.


Dr. Mike Nelson has been practicing veterinary medicine since his graduation from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. After working a short while in Pennsylvania, Dr. Nelson joined our clinic staff in 2004. His professional memberships include AVMA and AAEP. Dr. Nelson spends the majority of his time working with cows, small ruminants, and horses, but also has some evening clinic hours to work with small animals. Dr. Nelson, his wife, and four children live in the area with their black lab, Jeter. Dr. Nelson devotes a large portion of his free time volunteering with his church’s youth group.


Dr. Theresa Schreiner is originally from Lake Geneva. She graduated summa cum laude with a major in Biology from the University of Findlay, in Findlay, OH and received her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005. Dr. Schreiner completed internships in equine medicine and surgery at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, CA in 2006 and in veterinary ophthalmology at Specialty Hospital in Colorado in 2007. A member of AVMA and AAEP, Dr. Schreiner has been published in Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Schreiner’s areas of interest include ophthalmology, internal medicine, neonatology, and reproduction. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Dan, cooking, baking, and being outdoors.


Dr. Leibsle is a 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating he was an intern at Peterson and Smith Equine, a busy and widely respected equine practice in Ocala Florida. During his internship he received training in surgery, lameness, emergency and critical care medicine. After the yearlong internship he joined a practice in Wisconsin where he receive additional training with in equine dentistry and reproduction. Dr. Leibsle comes to our practice from Sawtooth Equine Service, a full-service referral hospital. Dr. Leiblse’s published articles include “Conformational Trends in Thoroughbred Foals from 0 – 256 Days of Age” presented at the 2005 AAEP National Convention in Seattle. A member of WVMA, AVMA, and AAEP, Dr. Leibsle spends his free time officiating high school wrestling and baseball, golfing, skiing, fishing, and working in his woodshop.
