Equine Medicine

Our veterinarians work diligently to provide top quality care to the acutely and chronically ill patient. Appointments can be made in advance to manage chronic illnesses and preventive medicine, while acute cases are treated as emergencies. All cases are tracked in order to receive the best possible outcome.

Depending on your needs, our doctors can either come to your farm in their fully-stocked veterinary truck or treat your horse at our clinic. The clinic has four stalls available for horses requiring case management for issues such as wound therapy, ophthalmic therapy, reproductive management and non-surgical colic treatment.

At least one large animal veterinarian is always on-call during holidays, on weekends, and after regular hours so you will never be abandoned in a medical crisis.

Our veterinarians have years of experience treating the full range of equine illnesses and injuries. One of the benefits of a multi-veterinarian practice is the ability of the doctors to consult with one another on a particular case. The following is a partial list of common medical problems successfully treated by our veterinarians:

  • Medical colic or gastrointestinal disease
  • Equine metabolic disorder
  • PPID
  • Respiratory disease
  • Dermatologic disease
  • Wound care and management
  • Cardiac disease
  • Chemotherapy for sarcoids or squamous cell carcinomas

Clients routinely contact our clinic when they are interested in buying a particular horse to perform a pre-purchase examination. Having a veterinarian medically evaluate a potential purchase may ultimately save the client thousands of dollars and an abundance of heartache. Our pre-purchase examinations can range from basic to very detailed, depending upon the buyer’s wishes and the prospect’s intended use. Clients are encouraged to contact the clinic and discuss the need and extent of the pre-purchase exam with a veterinarian when buying a horse.
